ROOF REFURBISHMENT METROPOLE HOTEL FOLKESTONE

We were recently instructed to carry out essential roof refurbishment, and renovation work at the grade II listed Metropole hotel.

The Metropole started life in 1897 when the seaside towns of the south-east where thriving holiday destinations. As such the Hotels original features are something to behold with no expense spared in the initial construction.

Like all things old father time has taken its toll on this Folkestone landmark. Upon our initial survey, it became clear we needed to overhaul large sections of the roof.

When undertaking this type of renovation much of the required repairs will be straight-forward to recognise such as worn out dormers or leadwork.

To identify less obvious areas that required refurbishment the team strip back small sections of tile. This enabled us to understand the condition of the underlying felts. We then set about refelting and retiling large sections of the roof.

GRADE II LISTING

Due to the Grade II listing status, all works had to conform to the original style and look of the building as such we used West Moorland, Green Slate.

Working on this grand building is a real pleasure. At Charles Roofing we relish this type of project as it requires genuine skill and problem-solving.

Having completed the second phase, we are due to be back working on this beautiful hotel early in 2017.

Should you require a quote for refurbishment work to your listed building, do get in touch we will be delighted to hear from you.
